Our Shepherd

The Apostle Paul once said, "Be followers of me, even as I also am of Christ." (1 Cor. 11:1) We all struggle to get along in life, and life decisions can be very difficult and overwhelming when our resources are low, when our needs outweigh our options.  So too, with spiritual matters.  When spiritual resources are low (or not existent) our spiritual needs go unmet. Depression, anxiousness, fear, heartache, and loss roll over us like a wave.

Jesus promised us peace (not perfection) in the midst of strife, but the world looks on Christendom, and His promise with distain; unattainable knowing that the problems within the Church are often no better, and are often much worse.  Skepticism steals the truth.  This peace seems elusive, but Jesus promises still. Why?

Lets look into Jesus heart.

And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.  But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion on them, because they were weary and scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.  Then He said to his disciples, The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest, to send out laborers into His harvest.  Mathew 9:35~38

the call to pottstown

Today we are sensing an absolute urgency for plucking some from the fire.  We struggle to not let the urgency and depth of our call back to this area be reduce to a more palatable rationalization of service out of our convenience; or the meaning lost by becoming efficient at the risk of separating ourselves from personally involvement.  Our mission will not be accomplished through a program.  We sense Gods calling to know these people, not from positions of our own comfort but out of sweat, tears, uncertainty, and most certainly through inconvenience; denying our very selfish and self-serving righteous attitudes.

We are confident of the calling that God has given us.  We are prayerful that this ministry will be effective in Gods service.  Our skills, passions, gifts and abilities are part of Gods shaping us for this calling, and we will lay them at His feet.

As followers and apprentices of Christ, we at still waters desire to be a blessing to Pottstown; connecting with the local established church leadership as a help to them and their ministries; connecting with those of low position, and teach them the good news of the kingdom, helping them practically; and teach them the path of righteousness; and we will pray for workers to come along.  We believe that following Him is the only way to have the necessary compassion to meet the real spiritual poverty in Pottstown.
